KO Sport partners Kate Saint and Olivia Nicholson designed and delivered an Introduction to Sports Coaching in the Community course from September - December 2010 at Fairfield Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Carnforth Drive, Worcester. WR4 9HG. This course didn't have an accreditaion linked to it, however the learners were given an insight into a day in a life of a sports coach, including business knowledge. Course content included:
• Sport – defining and identifying its place in society.
• Community – defining and identifying its place in society, esp locally to Fairfield and surrounding areas, talking to members of community/gathering data.
• Using gathered data to fuse sport and community together to create a solution to a need/want.
• Setting objectives.
• Devising a plan of action i.e. coaching plan.
• An introduction to practical coaching skills in order to impart safe and fun sessions in a given sport.
• Understanding and practising coaching techniques.
• An introduction to health and safety in sport.
• An introduction to marketing an idea/event and identifying target market.
• Delivering a coaching session.
• Evaluating outcomes and reviewing initial objectives.
