Fitness TestingFitness comes in a variety of forms with some children excelling at some areas but lacking in others and vice versa. Therefore it is important to cover the full range of fitness tests to see where the children’s strengths and weaknesses lie. We offer testing at the beginning of the school year and then comparative testing towards the end of the school year. A school may only require one test and then review where the children’s results sit in comparison to national standards. After discussing what is to be expected of them and demonstrating good techniques, the children are tested in the following five fitness disciplines (age dependant):
The results are set against national standards and are looked at for each individual class. The year group teachers are then given a report highlighting where they need to focus their PE lessons in order to, overall, improve the children’s fitness. Schools then have the option of using this data to identify any children who many require additional help with their fitness and then signpost them to the multisports and/or nutrition club if they felt they would benefit from the clubs. At the end of the school year the tests are repeated and the children’s results are compared to the original. Again, reports on the results are provided. |
